Held at San Antonio’s Smithsonian-affiliated Museo Alameda—Jesse Treviño: Mi Vida is a stunning retrospective examining the career of nationally recognized San Antonio artist Jesse Treviño. Treviño's work is renowned for its emotion and focuses on his personal and ethnic identity.
Jesse Treviño: Mi Vida is comprised of approximately 50 paintings, including two works from the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, 20 works on paper, as well as ephemera documenting Treviño's life.
The exhibition title is inspired by Treviño’s work, Mi Vida, which was recently rescued from demolition by art collector Cindy Gabriel. Treviño painted the monumental mural on the wall of his bedroom while recovering from war injuries sustained in Vietnam. This exhibition is the first time the mural has been seen by the public.
This highly anticipated retrospective runs from October 22 through February 28. It is expected to be a national blockbuster for the local and national Latino community.
