San Antonio - Film San Antonio / The San Antonio Film Commission are proud to present the Centerpiece Film for 30th Annual CineFestival. A riveting tale of history, Texas Independence and family secrets, Propiedad Ajena will make its San Antonio premiere on Saturday, April 12 at the historic Guadalupe Theatre.

Directed by Luis Vélez and shot in San Antonio and Mexico City in 2006, the Mexican-produced film is based on the novel by Enrique Berruga Filloy.
Propiedad Ajena premiered in Mexico City in November 2007 and has won numerous awards including the Pieza Central at the Cancun International Film Festival.

The film's stars Ludwika Paleta and Plutarco Haza, both well-known to Latin American audiences, and director Luis Vélez and producer Rossana Arau are attending the screening on April 12 and will be available for media interviews.

"The Film San Antonio office worked closely with Propiedad Ajena in the summer of 2006 as they shot throughout downtown " says Drew Mayer- Oakes, Director of Film San Antonio / The San Antonio Film Commission. "We received great support from the City Department of Asset Management, Parks and Recreation, Hixson Properties and the Bexar County Courthouse. Without this type of support and coordination, we just couldn't attract this type of production - the film required historic, well-known locations such as the Staacke Building, Bexar County Courthouse and archives, Municipal Plaza and the River Walk."

CineFestival originated in 1978 as the Chicano Film Festival and it is the nation's longest running Latino film festival. This year's festival theme is "Digital Revolutionaries: Celebrating 30 Years of Chicano Film and Video."
The four-day extravaganza from April 10 - 13 includes workshops, student showcases, senior screenings, demonstrations and several family films. Two red carpet gala celebrations will enable the public to meet and mingle with stars and directors throughout the festival.

The complete CineFestival lineup of shorts, features and documentaries will be available at a press conference on Thursday, March 20 at 10 am. The press conference will take place at the Guadalupe Theater, 1301 Guadalupe Street at Brazos.

Tickets to screenings are $8 general and $6 for students, seniors and GCAC members. A four-day festival pass, which includes entry to all the films and the gala celebrations, is available for $40 general and $30 for students, seniors and GCAC members. CineFestival is also offering a special "Five Tickets for $25" pack for families, friends and film buffs. For tickets, festival passes and other information, please call the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center at 210-271-3151or visit the festival website at www.cinefestivalsa.org <http://www.cinefestivalsa.org/> .

CineFestival is organized by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center and is sponsored in part by the City of San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs, Film San Antonio / The San Antonio Film Commission, Texas Commission on the Arts, Kronkosky Charitable Foundation, El Tropicano Hotel, Southwest Airlines, Time Warner Cable, San Antonio Express News, Univision Radio, La Prensa and Univision.
