The Happy Poet
July 24, 2010, 8pm
a Film and a Ride (in the yard)
organized by Mark Jones (San Antonio, TX)
Mark Jones and Unit B are pleased to present the San Antonio premiere of the film The Happy Poet, a comedy about an out-of-work poet who decides to open a all organic, mostly-vegetarian food stand to fulfill his life’s dreams. The Happy Poet, written and directed by Austin's Paul Gordon, has been screened at the SXSW Film Festival, Brooklyn’s Rooftop Films, and other festivals across the country. Entertainment Weekly said, "My favorite movie so far of this year's SXSW.” View the trailer at www.happypoetmovie.com
To make this premiere complete Mr. Jones has arranged for a tasty downtown hotdog cart, the Alamo Hot Dog Company, to be on site for the hot dog social hour (veggie options will be available). They'll be selling their mouth-watering bacon-wrapped San Antonio-style hot dogs...mmm. Something in a can will be provided for you to wash it down with.
We hope you'll join us for this FREE outdoor screening in our yard—ride your bike and bring a blanket, ‘cause after the film, we’ll saddle up for a fun-filled bike ride downtown to a TBD drinking establishment for an informal Q&A with the filmmakers. This is a one-night only event, so don’t miss it!
